Desiree practices an integrated form of orthopedic/clinical and myofascial massage designed to reduce adhesions and restrictions to allow for better mobility and correcting the postural distortions that lead to chronic pain and overuse injuries. She also offers TMJ soft tissue release, craniosacral add-ons, and traditional spa massage. All sessions are customized to the current needs of the client. She has experience in helping clients to rehabilitate injuries, restore function after surgery, avoid injuries and improve athletic performance, and reduce chronic pain and malfunction so that they can enjoy increased general wellbeing. She helps clients to figure out what the underlying causes of their issues are so that triggers can be reduced or eliminated and offers solutions for self-care to better maintain functional wellness in daily life.

Desiree has been a massage therapist since 2007, practicing in the New Orleans area until moving to Humboldt County in the summer of 2021. Her basic training occurred at Blue Cliff College in Metairie, LA, and most of her advanced training was done with Peter Fuller of the Advanced Massage Training Center of New Orleans. She holds a master's degree in medical and evolutionary anthropology (University of Tennessee, Knoxville, 2004) and taught in the Tulane University School of Medicine Standardized Patient Program where she instructed med students in physical exam techniques and how to interview, assess, and coach patients to optimize patient outcomes. With over 1600 hours of training in massage plus this work in related academic fields, she feels uniquely qualified to offer this integrated advanced therapy form dubbed "Functional Wellness Massage" to improve the health and wellbeing of her adopted community.
